Greetings from Arizona!
Devil DanceSport is glad to invite you to the fourth annual Devil DanceSport Invitational! It will be held at the sunny campus of Arizona State University.
The competition will include amateur single dance events, amateur multi-dance events and in keeping the collegiate tradition, a crazy themed team match event. There is one entry fee for all of the events, so come and dance your hearts out.
As a courtesy, coaches, non-competing organizers or captains will not be charged to attend our event in order to encourage them to cheer on their teams. Just submit a blank registration form indicating your name, team and position by March 23, 2012.
Also, we are excited to add a formation team competition to our event. Please see the formation team entry form for information on registering your team or teams.
The following is our complete DDSI Informational Packet, with all the information you need to plan your trip to Tempe, Arizona. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at info@devildancesport.com.

Dance Category Rules and Regulations
The Newcomer category is reserved for dancers who have never competed or have been dancing less than one year. All Newcomer, Bronze, Silver and Gold events are closed syllabus only. A violation of the syllabus is cause for disqualification. See USA Dance, NDCA, DVIDA, or ISTD syllabi for approved steps. Open choreography is allowed in multi-dance events, fun events and the team match.
Any one individual can enter in up to three single-dance and multi-dance levels in any given style (Standard/Latin/Smooth/Standard). If that individual is dancing more than one single-dance level in a given style, then he/she is only allowed to register for two consecutive levels of single-dance events within that style. The same rule applies for dancers competing in more than one multi-dance event in a given style. Examples:
| Acceptable registrations | Unacceptable registrations |
|---|---|
|
· Bronze/Silver Smooth · Bronze/Silver/Novice Smooth · Bronze/Silver Smooth AND Silver/Gold Rhythm |
· Bronze/Gold Smooth · Bronze/Silver/Gold Smooth · Bronze/Silver/Novice/Pre-Champ Smooth |
We encourage all dancers to enter in as many events as they are eligible for. In the Fun “anything goes” single dances all levels will compete together and lifts, drops, tricks, etc. are all acceptable. Same sex partnerships are allowed. At least one partner must be a university/college student.
Attire and Costumes
No shorts or jeans should be worn while competing. Ladies are not allowed to wear pants unless they are dancing as the leader. Costumes (attire with reflective fabric, light effects, feathers, rhinestones, etc.) are allowed at all levels, but not required.
Travel and Accommodations
Phoenix’s public transportation system is the easiest way to get from the airport to ASU. At the airport you can board a shuttle to the nearest light rail station. From there take the eastbound train to the station at University and Rural on ASU campus. One ride costs $1.75. Some hotels provide airport shuttles as well. If you have any questions regarding transportation or hotels email info@devildancesport.com with “DDSI Transport” in the subject line. Helpful links are provided below.
